Charles “Chuck” Bledsoe, Sr. passed away on February 15, 2017, surrounded by his family.
Chuck was born to Aaron and Beulah Bledsoe on January 24, 1928, in San Angelo, TX. While still in high school in California, he enlisted in the Navy during World War II where he served in the Navy from 1944 to 1946. Following the war, he met the love of his life, Louise Jacoby, and they were married on October 30, 1948.
From a young boy, Chuck loved baseball. He played catcher and managed professionally in the minor leagues for the Cincinnati Reds organization in the state of Georgia. Following his baseball career, Chuck made his living with another talent, construction. Starting as a brick mason, he worked his way up to construction superintendent. He has left his mark on many commercial buildings in San Angelo, TX.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers - Aaron Bledsoe, Jr. and Gene Bledsoe, Gene’s wife, Sylvia, and son-in-law, Joseph Miller.
Chuck is survived by his loving and caring wife of 68 years, Louise Bledsoe of San Angelo, TX; daughter, Cynthia Bledsoe Miller of West Palm Beach, FL; and son, Chuck Bledsoe, Jr. and his wife, Mary Lou, of North Richland Hills, TX; three grandchildren, Christina Ripley of West Palm Beach, FL; Jennifer Busey of Oklahoma City, OK; and Daniel Bledsoe of Springfield, OR; as well as three great-grandchildren. Also, Chuck is survived by one brother, Kenneth Bledsoe, his wife, Becky, of Bronte, TX and Aaron’s wife, Marion Bledsoe of San Angelo, TX.
A Visitation with Family will be held at Harper Funeral Home on Friday, February 17, 2017, from 5:30 to 6:30 PM. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, February 18, at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens at 2:00 PM.
