Dorothy Cannon Knight, 100, of Mineola, Texas, formerly of San Angelo, Texas, passed away February 8, 2017 at HOMEPLACE, Hospice of East Texas, Tyler.
Services will be held Monday, February 13, 2017 at 11:00 A.M at Johnson's Funeral Home Chapel, burial will follow at Johnson's Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. Pastor Darrell Smith will be officiating the services. You may visit with the family one hour before the services.
Dorothy is blessed to be with her husband, Sidney, who died in 1996 and her son, Geryl, who died in 1969. Dorothy was born September 28, 1916, in Mt. Pleasant, Texas, to Jeff and Jessie Cannon. She lived most of her adult life in San Angelo. She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Effie Colley, Mae Morris, Mary Amerson and brother Marcus Cannon.
She is survived by daughter, Jeanie and husband, Rodney, of Mineola, Texas. "MeNaw", as she was affectionally known by the grandchildren, was a wonderful and caring grandmother who furnished many special treats and gifts to them throughout her life. They are Kyle Waggoner, US Army Ret. of San Antonio, Texas, Sheryl Polansky and husband Michael of Lorena, Texas, Kirk Waggoner and wife, Stephanie, of Anchorage, Alaska, Kristi Green and husband Wes of Plano, Texas, and Vince Knight and wife Connie of Belton. She is survived by eleven great-grandchildren, Kristen Wanek, Kerri Fattig, Ashley Waggoner, Brady Brasher, Sydnee Mir, Jacob Knight, Brooks Waggoner, Justin Knight, Chance Green, Lana Green, Will Green, and Garrett Polansky. She never forgot their birthdays and a $5 bill was always included in each one. She is survived by 7 great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
If desired, memorials may be sent to the Heart Association , the Parkinson's Foundation or the American Cancer Society . All three of these diseases have touched her and her family.
