Troy Wayne Edes passed into the arms of our Lord and Savior on January 15, 2017 after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Mr. Edes was predeceased by his father, Alvin and his mother, Jewel. He is survived by his precious wife, Bonnie, of the home, a daughter and son-in-law, Julie Mayfield and Steve Mayfield of San Angelo, and a son and daughter-in-law, Anthony Edes and Barbara Edes of Richardson. Also left to cherish his memory are three grandchildren: Cassidy Mayfield, Andrew Mayfield and Molly Edes.
Mr. Edes lived a full and wonderful life for 70 years. Born in September 1946 in Muenster, Texas, he grew up in the Montague and Cooke county area. He loved to hunt and fish and had many childhood adventures on his grandparents’ farm near Dye Mound, Texas. Raised in the Lord’s presence, Troy preached at many area congregations as a young man. He had a heart for the Lord and reaching the lost with God’s word. In January 1967 Troy married the love of his life, Bonnie Morris, in Henrietta, Texas.
Troy began his career in education after he graduated from North Texas University in 1969. His first three years were spent teaching high school math in Saint Jo, Texas. He then spent the next 25 years teaching high school math, computers and drafting in Lindsay, Texas. He was a positive role model and influence on countless individuals from the region who still speak fondly of Mr. Edes and love to tell stories of his antics.
After retiring from teaching, Mr. Edes devoted more time to Christ’s Ambassadors trying to reach more people with the word of God. He fully developed his interest in wood working and jewelry making, going to a variety of rock shows and making new friends along the way. He blended different interests from his youth: hunting for arrow heads and nature as he enjoyed spending time with friends and family. He also enjoyed painting and as he slowed down in the last few years, he would spend time watching Bob Ross Painting technique and then painting with his grandchildren.
Mr. Edes will be missed by family, friends, cousins, and his church family at the Christoval Church of Christ.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 1:00pm at The Christoval Church of Christ in Christoval, Texas, with Minister David Lusk officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to St. Gabriel's Hospice & Palliative Care, 3157 Executive Dr. San Angelo, TX 76904
