Mary McIntosh Erwin, 90, of San Angelo went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday October 13, 2016, in San Angelo Texas. She was born August 4, 1926 in San Angelo to Rush L. and Rebecca Chapman McIntosh. She grew up in San Angelo and graduated from San Angelo High School in 1945. Mary went on to attend San Angelo College where she received her degree in Applied Arts in 1948. After college she worked for Frank Late and Mustang Chevrolet as a bookkeeper. She enjoyed her career working for Mr. Late and the extensive travel that came with it. Mary later married the love of her life, Nelson L. Erwin on May 16, 1959. They shared 47 beautiful years together raising their two children, Margay and Manse, before Nelson preceded her in death in 2006. She was a selfless woman, a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother who truly spent her life nurturing her family. She was a strong woman of faith. She followed her parent’s footsteps to the church home which she loved, the First Presbyterian Church of San Angelo. Her husband, after retirement, became a Lay Pastor there for several years. Mary was a very giving person by nature and enjoyed giving her time and talents to everyone. She was a Boy Scout Leader during the years her son, Manse, was involved in Scouting. She loved spending time with her family, sewing and working in her yard. Her beautiful spirit of love and kindness to everyone will always be remembered and cherished.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her son, Manse Carlisle Erwin, one sister, Ermadine Baker and two brothers, R.L. McIntosh and Frank M. “Mutt” McIntosh. She is survived by her daughter and son in-law, Margay & Doug Massey, her grandchildren Madison, Morgan and Macy Massey, all of San Angelo; Lee Ann Erwin and Alan Erwin and his wife Diana and their son, her great grandson, Luke Evan Erwin and her daughter in-law Lori Ann Erwin, all of San Antonio. Also, one brother Dr. Richard McIntosh, of Dallas, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mary was also much loved by and is terribly missed by our families sweet puppies, Piper and Lilllie, who so loved sitting with Grandma everyday.
