Margaret Crawford was born January 7, 1924 to Glen and Leta Crawford and grew up in Irion County.
Margaret was an outstanding student through school and graduated from Texas State College for Women in Denton, TX. Later she earned her Master’s degree in English from the University of Alabama. She subsequently taught English at Ft. Stockton High, Central High (San Angelo) and Wallace Junior College in Dothan, AL
She authored several short stories, 2 of which were published, one in the Toronto Star weekly and in a book of stories Alabama’s Prize winning short stories. She had many interest but had a real passion for Bridge. She was a duplicate player and earned 2 “Life Masters” in Bridge.
Margaret supported many charities as well as several conservative and patriotic groups.
Margaret was the great granddaughter of Richard Franklin Tankersley, widely recognized as this areas first permanent settler.
Margaret is survived by her Son Ben Steven Tepper and his wife Kathy Tepper; Grandchildren Max L Tepper III and Steven B. Tepper and wife Gabriella; and one great-grandchild Keeley Marie Bell.
Preceded in death by a son Max L. Tepper Jr.
A graveside service will be held at Fairmount Cemetery, at 10:30 AM., Monday, September 26, 2016.
