Ann Helmers, of Sherwood, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, September 18, 2016, at the age of 84, with her family at her side. Ann, child of God, was born July 4, 1932 in Richardson, Texas. She was the daughter of the late Clarence and Lottie Holmes Padgett.
Ann was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and was affectionately known by her family as "Nan-Naw". She met the love of her life, J V. Helmers and they married on December 25, 1972 in Grand Junction, Colorado. She loved to quilt and especially enjoyed making very special quilts for her grandchildren and family. She had many talents and loved to embroider, work with flowers and cook and was exceptional at everything she did. She was a faithful member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Eola, Texas.
Ann was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Jimmy and Robert Padgett.
She is lovingly survived by her husband of 43 years, J V. Helmers; daughters, Debra Sams and her husband Michael, and Linda Cullum; grandchildren, Ami Rudolph and her husband Isaac, Keri Martin and her husband James, Erin Martin and her husband Keith, Sarah Embry and her husband Benjamin, Sarah Sams, Josiah Sams, Joshua Sams and his wife Shaunessi, Levi Sams, Hannah Sams and Jesse Sams; 30 great grandchildren; sisters, Nan Williams, Sue Powell and her husband Calvin, Bettie Dimsdle; and a brother, C.W. Padgett.
Family will receive friends for a time of visitation 6:00-8:00 PM Wednesday, September 21, 2016, at Johnson's Funeral Home. Services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, September 22, 2016, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 3536 Lutheran Way, San Angelo with Pastor Tom Baden officiating. Interment will follow at Johnson's Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. Ann's grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
