Willard Ray Goetz, 74, of San Angelo went to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 28, 2016 in San Angelo surrounded by his loving family. Willard was born October 6, 1941 in San Angelo to Emil and Annie Schacherl Goetz. He grew up San Angelo graduating from Central High School. Willard married Shirley Walker on April 1, 1961 and they shared 55 wonderful years together. Willard devoted his life to his community as an officer in the San Angelo Police Department for 32 years. He remained passionate about police work and achieved the rank of Lieutenant before retiring in 1996. His greatest passions were spending time with his family and dedicating time to his church home, Trinity Fellowship Church. He also enjoyed the great outdoors, fishing, animals and painting. Especially painting outdoor scenes. There was never a person prouder of his family and his police work than Willard. Above all, he was a loving son, brother, father, grandfather and great grandfather and his love and legacy will remain in our hearts forever! Willard was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Goetz, of San Angelo; his Son, Larry R. Goetz, of San Angelo; his Daughter, Tamra Goetz, of San Angelo; his Grandchildren, Alana Roeder, of San Angelo, Shawna Turner, of San Angelo, Mason R. Goetz, of San Angelo and Maddie Goetz, of San Angelo; his Great Grandchildren, Kaylee Goetz and Kade Goetz, both of San Angelo; his Daughter-in-law, Lisa Goetz, of San Angelo; his Brother, Donnie Goetz and his wife Georgia, of San Angelo; his sister, Linda Hunt, of Eldorado; and numerous nieces and nephews, other family members and close friends who he dearly loved. The Funeral Service will be 10:45 A.M., Thursday, September 1, 2016 at Trinity Fellowship Church with Rev. Ron Miller and Rev. Randy Levens officiating. The family would like to extend their sincerest thanks and appreciation to the “Angels” at Hospice of San Angelo, Veronica, Amber and Ray for all of the loving care given to Willard. The family would also like to extend their sincerest appreciation to their church home, Trinity Fellowship Church for all of the many blessings bestowed on them during this time.
