Freddie Leroy Jones, 75, of San Angelo went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 in San Angelo. Leroy was born November 11, 1940 in Sutherland, Nebraska to Freddie Martin Jones and Velma Jane Chessmore Jones. He served his country honorably in the United States Air Force. Leroy married Linda Burgin in Amarillo, Texas and they shared almost 40 beautiful years together. He retired from the United States Postal Service where he was a branch manager for many years. After retirement, he dedicated his work to substitute teaching the special education program at various schools. Leroy had a number of passions, hobbies and associations. He was an avid Dallas Mavericks fan and Dallas Cowboys Fan. Leroy loved to umpire and was a member of the ASA and the USSSA Umpire Association and also served as past Umpire in Chief in San Angelo. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting and playing poker. Above all, he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. Leroy was a loving husband, father and grandfather who devoted his life to his family. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters. Leroy is survived by his loving wife, Linda Burgin Jones, of San Angelo; his sons, Scott Turner and his wife Tanya, of San Angelo, Brent Turner and his wife Amy, of Colleyville, Jason Turner and his wife Kate, of Austin, and Brian Turner and his wife Melissa, of San Antonio, TX; his 9 grandchildren: Amber Turner, Shayla Turner, Timothy Turner, Jacob Turner, Grace Turner, Gabbie Turner, Finn Turner, Luke Turner and Jake Turner; and two great granddaughters on the way which Leroy was very excited about. He is also survived by one brother, Gary Jones and his wife Debbie, of Liberal, KS and one Sister, Loretta Cunningham and her husband Verle, of Topeka KS; and his lifelong friend James Branch. The Memorial Service will be 2:00 P.M., Saturday, August 27, 2016 at Sierra Vista United Methodist Church. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
