James Richard Stephens, 90, of San Angelo, TX passed away August 7, 2016. He was born in Gracemont Oklahoma on August 15, 1925 to John R. Stephens and Erma Mae Rodgers –Stephens. James served in the United States Navy as a Seaman First class during World War II. He was stationed in Guam. He also served on the U.S.S. Price Williams and the U.S.S. Langley. He also served on the Naval Base in Philadelphia, PA. He was married to Margaret Elizabeth Grizzle on January 26, 1946. James worked as the Central Office Technician for GTE. He was a Charter member of Glen Meadows Baptist Church and had a passion for family, church, camping and wood working. He is preceded in death by his parents, his beautiful wife Margaret Elizabeth, his sisters Betty Strong and Emily Graves, and brothers Raymond Stephens and Bob Stephens. He is survived by his children, Sue Ingle, John Stephens, and Margie Stovall. He also leaves to cherish his memories his grandchildren, Donnie Ingle, David Ingle, Darla Lowry, Jes Stephens, Fethr Stephens, Sue Elizabeth Weinkauf, Wendy Bennett and a brother, Bill Stephens. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, August 11, 2016 at Glen Meadows Baptist Church with burial in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens immediately following the service. Mr. Stephens will lie in repose for public viewing on Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at Johnson's Funeral Home from noon until close. Arrangements are under the direction of Johnson's Funeral Home.
