Kenneth Leo "KL" Welch, 77 dearly loved husband, daddy and "Pappy" went to a better place on June 16, 2016 where he is now complete and healthy. A life-long resident of San Angelo, he attended school at Lake View High School. He was a member of Lake View Baptist Church, and served in the U.S. Marine Corp. Though saddened by the loss, we cherish our memories of the kind, sweet and funny man that enjoyed nothing more than being with his family. He was talented in wood and metal working. Most say there was nothing he could not make with his hands. He even crafted a pair of spurs, in which he proudly displayed on Coach Mack Brown's wall. He also crafted other items such as two knives, crosses and his daughter's earrings. Pappy was adored by and the hero to his grandchildren who will never forget the wisdom he shared, or the stories he told of hunting and fishing and the adventures of "Pork of Chop Hill. "Survivors include wife of 60 years and the love his life, Barbara; son- Jimmy Welch; daughters-Lisa Friend(Zane), Christy Scandolari (Ron) and Kala Pfingsten (Brent); grandchildren- Brady Whitaker, Bryce and Macy Pfingsten, Bailey Welch, and Haze Friend; sisters- Gwen Duncan and Pat Foster. He was preceded in death by parents Leo and Evelyn Welch. Special Friends and "partners in crime" include Jimmy "J.O." Lane , Lyn Garnett, the late Clyde Owen, Tommy Nasworthy, J.B. Self, and Fred Ellis, Galen Moeller, Gardner Wiseheart, Jim Howell, and his dog, Snuffy, the staff at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. We smile as we remember the, "breaker 1-9" days, our "Copper Man" is over and out. Graveside services will be Monday, June 20, 10:00 A.M. at Fairmount Cemetery, Rev. Bob Beaver officiating.
