Maria Acosta Gonzalez, adored wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend passed from this earth to eternal heavenly rest on Saturday, June 11, 2016, surrounded by her family. Maria was born to Ursula and Lazaro Acosta in Fort Stockton,Texas, on February 22, 1942. She was married to Benjamin Gonzales on April 22, 1966 in Fort Stockton.
Maria was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Elena Ramos, Juana Subia, Juliana Armendariz, and Beatriz Porras; and two brothers, Alberto Acosta and Ricardo Acosta.
She is survived by her husband Benjamin Gonzalez; her children, Imelda Noblett and her husband, Chad; Esmeralda Gonzalez; Tony Gonzalez and his fiance, Sue; and her beloved granddaughter, Elisa Key and her husband, Steven. She is also survived by her brothers, Ramon Gonzales and his wife Cleotilde, and Tino Acosta; and her sisters, Calistra Valenzuela; Manuela Garrison and her husband Wayne.
Maria was a caring mother to her family, and a great friend to many. She was a faithful parishioner of St. Mary's Catholic Church and served that community in many capacities. Her life will remain a vibrant memory for those who were blessed to know her and love her.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church in San Angelo or Mt. Carmel Hermitage in Christoval.
Rosary will be prayed on Wednesday, June 15th, 7 pm at St. Mary's Catholic Church in San Angelo. Burial mass will be celebrated on Thursday, June 16th, 11 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Fort Stockton.
