On Thursday, April 28, 2016, Edgar Alan Ellett, 98, joined his Lord, beloved wife, children, and family in joyful reunion. Alan was born on April 1, 1918 to Joe Ellett and Bernice Garrett Ellett in Dallas, Texas. He married Francine Bumpas on December 12, 1943, and they lived together in love for 60 years. Alan was a member of Southgate Church of Christ. He is survived by his daughter Ann Walker and husband Norman of Cleburne; sister-in-law, Dixie Alexander and son-in-law Criss Zimmerman both of San Angelo; three grandchildren, Dalan Walker and wife Kristie of Cleburne, Cristie Goltl and husband Ricky, and Joeye Buckelew and husband Chris all of San Angelo; seven great grandchildren, Kellsey Castanuela and husband Joe, Baylie and Sophee Goltl, Logan Zimmerman and Jordan Long all of San Angelo and London and Ethan Walker of Cleburne. He was preceded in death by his wife, daughter, Nancy Louise Zimmerman, son, Joseph Alan Ellett, sisters, Joan Joiner and Betty Eckerman, and nieces and nephews. Alan served in the Army during WWII, at a bomb depot outside of Norwich, England. After returning home to San Angelo, he worked many years in his uncle's small neighborhood grocery. Then he went to work as the custodian and maintenance man for his church where he served as a deacon and then elder for many years. He will be missed by countless friends. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 Sunday, May 1 at Johnson's Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 2 at Southgate Church of Christ with Paul Shero officiating. Burial will follow in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Norman Walker, Dalan Walker, Art Scott, Kenneth Gartman, Milt Langston, and Lawrence Thompson. Memorials can be made to San Angelo Christian Academy through Southgate Church of Christ.
