Mary Jo Klattenhoff, 89, homemaker and longtime resident of Miles passed away on Friday, February 19, 2016 in San Angelo. She was born to the late, Douglas, Sr. and Mamie Alice Jackson Childress on September 13, 1926 in Miles. She married the love of her life, Lee William Klattenhoff on January 20, 1944 in Ballinger. She worked at his side tending to the cattle as well as taking care of their home. They were married almost 52 years at the time of his death on December 23, 1996. She was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Miles; where she was involved and active within the Lutheran Church Women, serving as president, secretary and treasurer over the years. Mary Jo was talented in arts and crafts of all forms, but especially painting and sewing. She enjoyed traveling across the country. Mary Jo was a giving lady, described as being "selfless" and always positive, no matter what the circumstances might be. She will be missed greatly be all who knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brothers, Doug Childress, Jr. and Bobby Eugene Childress.
Survivors include her daughter, Sandra Harlow; son, Wayne Klattenhoff; grandchildren, Shane Harlow, Cody Harlow and his wife, Gena, Collin Klattenhoff, and Carlee Goetz and her husband, Cody; great grandson, George Dietrich Goetz; sister-in-law, Sandy Childress; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends, including daughter-in-law, Lois Ann Crownover.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Suzie Medina for all the loving care provided to Mary Jo.
There will be a time of visitation at Johnson's Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00 P.M. on Monday, February 22, 2016. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, February 23, 2016 in the Trinity Lutheran Church of Miles. Interment will follow in the Miles Cemetery.
