Billy Dean Smith left this earth to join our Heavenly Father on February 11, 2016. Billy was born on June 17, 1947 to Velma Crisp Smith and Benjamin Everet Smith. He grew up in Mertzon, TX with several brothers and sisters. Billy joined the Army June 22, 1965 and served until 1972 with a rank of E4 serving in the Vietnam War. He drove cross country and worked in the oilfield. Billy was a history buff. He always had a smile on his face and seldom complained, he most enjoyed picking at people and making others laugh. He was a fair weather cowboy fan. Billy is survived by the daughter of his heart, Donella Lewis of Bronte, TX; granddaughter of his heart Ashley Mendoza of Big Lake, TX; sisters, Cora Boys of Wilmington, DE, Janie Dyson of Barnhart, TX, and twin sister Betty Monette of Brownwood, TX; along with many nieces and nephews. Billy is preceded in death by both of his parents; his brothers, Greenville Franklin "Hank", Duwain Edward, William Delbert, Joseph Olander, Benjamin Wilson, Henry Clay "Pete" and his sister Myrtle Kathleen. Billy will be cremated and no memorial is planned as per his wishes.
