Carey was born November 5, 1982 in Amarillo, Texas to Marla Beth Mathis. She grew up in San Angelo, attending Austin Elementary, Lee Junior High and later Central High School. Carey enjoyed running track and playing volleyball at Lee Jr. High. She aspired to be in law enforcement in some way. She was a student at Howard College and was studying Criminal Justice most recently and was looking forward to becoming a counselor or moving into some facet of law enforcement where she was able to help people. Carey loved helping others and had a huge giving heart.
