Roy Grosshans, 90, of San Angelo, died Sunday, October 25, 2015, at his home. He was born to the late Walter and Louise Grosshans in Runnels County on June 28, 1925. Roy served in the U.S. Navy before returning home to marry the love of his life, Reba Jenkins, on April 10, 1946, in Miles, Texas. Roy began farming at that time and later went to work for Monarch Tile Manufacturing, where he retired after 30 years. Roy and Reba lived in San Angelo for the rest of his life.
Roy was a member of Day Memorial Methodist Church, where he loved serving his Lord, serving as a board member and providing maintenance for the church. Roy and Reba moved their memberships to First United Methodist Church when Day Memorial closed, where they attended as long as they were physically able. Roy was passionate about activities with his family, including camping, fishing and family reunions. He was an avid reader and loved reading about history.
Roy is survived by his wife of 69 years, Reba, daughter Ruth Abbott, and son Bruce Grosshans and wife Vicki, all of San Angelo. He is also survived by two grandsons, Rodney Abbott and wife Wendy, and Randy Abbott and wife Robin, as well as a granddaughter, Leslie Porter and husband Steven. In addition, he is survived by ten great-grandchildren and many great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by all his brothers and sisters, as well as his granddaughter, Ginger Grosshans.
Friends may call at Johnson's Funeral Home for viewing. The family will receive friends for the Visitation 5:00-7:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home. Graveside Service will be held 2:00 PM Friday, October 30, 2015, at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens with the Reverend Barbara Dyke officiating.
