Waiting to meet Jesus, Ira Hubert Pool, left us on Thursday, October 15, 2015 at the age 95. Ira H. was born on February 25, 1920 in Richland Springs, Texas to Leonard Dalco Pool and Annie Phillips Pool. He was raised in Richland Springs where he graduated from high school and went then to attend Texas A&M University. He married Willie Mae Lee in 1942 and the family moved to San Angelo in 1951. Ira H. worked with American National Life Insurance until his retirement. He enjoyed playing a mean hand of dominos with anyone who would sit down and give it a try. He also enjoyed cooking and being in the Lord's House. He became a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in 1951; he loved his Pastor and his Sunday School Class. Ira H. was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Willie Mae Pool; and his daughter, Sylvia Ann Pool Parks. In December of 2000, Ira H. married Doris Young; a lady with a sweet heart that he had known from his Sunday School Class.
Survivors include his wife, Doris Young Pool; his son, Ira Lee Pool and wife, Kandi of San Angelo; son-in-law, Jon Henry Parks of Mertzon; grandsons, Jon Eric Parks and wife, Martha of LaPorte, Jason Henry Parks and wife, Shonna of Mertzon, and Ryan Lee Pool and wife, Annette of Del Rio; his sister, Mora Pool Gober of San Angelo; and 11 great grandchildren. He loved each one dearly! His grandsons will be his honorary pallbearers.
Family visitation will be held at Johnson's Funeral Home on Friday, October 16, 2015 from 6:00-8:00 PM. Graveside services will be held at 3:00 PM, Saturday, October 17, 2015 in the Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens with Pastors Tommy Richardson of Immanuel Baptist Church and Lakan Mariano of College Hills Baptist Church officiating.
The family would like to extend their grateful hearts to the nurses and staff of Hospice of San Angelo, especially to Pamela Murphy whose kindness and soft care made his last days truly comfortable. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a donation to Hospice of San Angelo.
