Emmett Otto Eggemeyer, 77, passed away on Wednesday, October 14, 2015. Visitation and Rosary service is at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 18, 2015 in Johnson's Funeral Home Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial is at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 19, 2015 at Sacred Heart Cathedral with Fr. Stephen Hicks officiating. Burial will follow in St. Boniface Cemetery in Olfen, Texas. Pallbearers are Steve Beach, Jerry Don Multer, Richard Moeller, Richard Wilde, Bobby Fuchs, and Bill Halfmann. Honorary Pallbearers are Daniel Seidel and Eddie Russell.
Emmett was born on Christmas Day, December 25, 1937, to Walter John and Alma Ocker Eggemeyer, east of Rowena, Texas. He attended Olfen Public School for ten years, then Ballinger High School. Emmett was an excellent marksman, having learned to shoot at age four with his first air rifle. Through 4H Club and FFA programs he won many awards. He drove the Olfen school bus, and worked for Gabbert Meat Company in Ballinger. He drove the transport truck for Ballinger Butane Company, and worked for the Wilde Cotton Gin of Rowena. For 25 years Emmett worked for Seidel Construction of San Angelo driving heavy equipment until an accident caused him to retire early.
In 1960, he married Christina Fenwick and they adopted a daughter, Sandra Marie. Later, he married Jessie Mae Elliott. She passed away from cancer in 2005. Emmett loved to dance, hunt, and fish. He was proud of his clock collection and association with his Facebook friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Arnold W. and Homer Eggemeyer of Olfen. Survivors include his sister Geneva E. Russell and husband Lee of San Angelo; nephews Nick, Curtis, and Tyrone Eggemeyer; nieces Becky Moyer, Bonnie Favor, and Gena Van Tries; and adopted daughter Sandra Marie.
