Elmer Lee Kennedy went to be with his Heavenly Father on Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at the age of 89.
Elmer was born July 24, 1926 in San Angelo, Texas to Harry and Lottie (Herriman) Kennedy. Elmer grew up in a strong Christian family and was devoted to reading his Bible daily. He spoke often about his relationship with his Savior Jesus Christ. Elmer was a truck driver by trade, but his real passion was spending time with his family. Elmer also served his country in the United States Navy.
Our Papa will always remain in our hearts as a soft spoken, tender hearted, kind man. He never had an unkind word to say about anyone. Our Papa and Auntie were the most giving people and took care of our entire family no questions asked generation after generation. He enjoyed camping trips and traveling from a young age with our Auntie and as the years went by with all of his kids and grandkids. He loved fishing for yellow cat. When he wasn't reading his Bible, he always had a Louis Lamore western in his hand. Papa enjoyed living life all around as long as he was with family.
Elmer was preceded in death by his wife of forty-five years in June, Jackie Kennedy.
Elmer is survived by his children, Eva, Ricky, Tina, Carolyn, Marilyn and David; grandchildren, Brandi, Valerie, Seth, Sarah, Briana and Charity; five great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 4 pm, Saturday, September 26, 2015 at Grape Creek Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home/Sherwood Way.
The family would like to thank Baptist Hospice for the great care and compassion they showed to our Papa.
