Gerry Wendell Dyer was born August 13, 1936 in Coleman County in the Crossroads Community, he went to be with the Lord September 6, 2015 at 4:30 a.m.
After graduating from Coleman High School Gerry went to work in the oilfield and then for the Lower Colorado River Authority where he worked for thirty years. He proudly served in the Army for two tours. Gerry accepted Christ at a revival at Cross Roads Baptist Church in Coleman and was a member of Lakeview Bible Church in San Angelo.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Myrtle Dyer; sisters, Dorothy and Laura; brother, John and infant brother Arthur Eugene.
Gerry is survived by his wife, Dixie Crews Dyer; son, Danny Armstrong of Austin; brothers, Albert Dyer of San Angelo and Tommy Dyer and wife Kay of Coleman; three step-daughters and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be all day Thursday, September 10, 2015 at the funeral home with family present 4-6 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, September 11, 2015 at Lakeview Bible Church. Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m., Friday, September 11, 2015 in Coleman City Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home/Sherwood Way.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Lakeview Bible Church building Fund.
