He was employed by Ethicon for 9 years and Western Towers for 35 years where he designed the RR40T - Tilt Down Radio Tower which is still in use to this day. Fortino was an extremely humble man who was always willing to help others. He never expected anything in return. He loved to make gifts for others with his creative welding skills, such as planters, dinner bells, and wind chimes. He loved putting "wheels" on anything and everything and his coworkers and family would always tease him about his "wheel obsession". Fortino loved antiques and collecting rocks to put in his cactus garden. He was a man of few words, but had an endearing quick wit about him and would make his family and friends laugh with just a few carefully chosen words. His family will always remember a dependable, hard-working man who always strove to do his best to provide for his family. He loved being outside, tinkering around and going camping with Tommie, his children and grandchildren in their RV. Fortino was always punctual and one of his greatest qualities was his honest, reliable nature. He always stayed true to his word. Being a Korean War Veteran made him very patriotic and he had an influence on family members wanting to serve their country.
