After graduation, Wayne moved to California to attend Stockton Bible College. Later, he transferred to the Houston area where he completed his education and earned his degree from Texas Bible College.

Soon after marriage, Wayne accepted pastorate of the United Pentecostal Church in Albany, Texas. While living in Albany, their oldest son Michael Wayne was born. Wayne began to feel a call to go to San Angelo and establish a church there. During the first years in San Angelo their second son Timothy Layne was born. The Maxwell’s also opened their hearts and home to include Cindy Jones as a foster daughter.
For over forty years Wayne labored and loved people to the Lord in San Angelo as pastor of Fair Park United Pentecostal Church later to become Church of Pentecost. Wayne also established works in Sterling City and Grape Creek. Ministers stand behind pulpits and work in churches all over the world due to the tutelage of Wayne over the past fifty years.

“Each for the Other and Both for the Lord” is a song that was sung at Wayne and Nell’s wedding that beautifully describes their life together. For forty nine years they have lived for and loved each other as they both loved the Lord. Wayne Maxwell was truly a man of God. As the sun was setting on August 12, 2015, he walked into the arms of his waiting and welcoming God. His life was an inspiration to everyone who knew him and he will be greatly missed.
