Bryan Gale Mahon, 89, passed away peacefully with family by his side on Thursday evening, August 6, 2015.
The Memorial Service will be at Johnson Street Church of Christ, Monday, August 10 at 11:00 am following a private burial at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. The Visitation will be 6:00 p.m.-7:30 p.m. Sunday August 9 at Johnson's Funeral Home.
Bryan was born June 20, 1926, in Loraine, Texas to John and Nola Muns Mahon. He graduated from Loraine High School. He attended McMurray College in Abilene, Texas. After a two year break to serve in the United States Army Air Corps, he graduated from McMurray in 1948. Bryan opened Mahon's Men Shop in Colorado City, Texas in 1948 and then moved the business to San Angelo in 1953 where it has served San Angelo to the present. He loved people and it was a job he enjoyed every day of his life. Bryan married Mary Nell Lea on June 30, 1952 and they recently celebrated 63 years of wedded bliss.
Bryan was a charter member of the Twin Mountain Tonesmen barbershop chorus which began in 1978. He sang in their spring concert this past May. His favorite tag was " I gotta be on my way". Bryan was also a golf fanatic and always ready to share that he shot a 72 when he was 72 ! Bryan served as deacon for many years and as an elder for the last 17 years at Johnson St Church of Christ.
Bryan was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Eldon Mahon and Royce Mahon. He is survived by sister Melba Rickman, brother Gordon Mahon (Melba), wife Mary Nell Mahon, sons Myron Mahon (Mary), Monte Mahon (Becky) and daughter Emily Bullock (Joe), seven grandchildren, Kaylea Andrews (Zach), John Mahon, Wade Mahon (Kaci), Ryan Mahon (Tawny), Chad Mahon (Robin), Tyler Bullock (Kim) and Taren Bullock, three great-grandchildren, Rowen Mahon, Krew and Kade Bullock.
The family would like to thank the nursing staff at Senior Care and Pamela of Hospice of San Angelo for their sweet, tender care of Bryan. Memorials may be given to Rust Street Ministries, Hospice of San Angelo or a charity of your choice.
