Long Time West Texas resident JoAnn Heflin passed into enteral life Friday, June 26, 2015 in New Braunfels, Texas.
A time of visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 pm on Monday, June 29, 2015 in the Johnson's Funeral Home of San Angelo. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 am, Tuesday, June 30, 2015 in the Lawnhaven Memorial GardensShe was born July 29 1922 in Ozona, Texas to Emmett and Mabel Young.She was raised on ranches near Sheffield and Dryden, Texas. She loved horses outdoors all animals swimming and dancing . She was her dads right hand man on all aspects of ranching. She went on a cattle drive at 12. She was known for her ability as a child to outride the boys on milk pen calves. She graduated high school in Iraan. She would tell stories about the great depression and the drought. Her greatest love was her family. Married her first love Dub Heflin at 18. She lost him at the age of 30 with two small boys to raise. Later married Marvin Heflin and moved to San Angelo. Together they had Jo Gayle and Greg Heflin. Their home was open to all. She resided in San Angelo until 1997. She moved to Uvalde.
She was preceded in death by her parents, by her husbands,Dub and Marvin Heflin, and Son Steve Heflin.
She is survived by her son, Gary Leflin and wife Linda from New Braunfels, TX; daughter, Jo Gayle Hope and husband Gene of Uvalde,TX and son Greg Heflin of Uvalde,TX; 13 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandhchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
