Korby was born August 29, 1970 in San Angelo, Texas to Robert W. "Bob" and Tennie M. Mullins Kennedy. He grew up in San Angelo and after graduating from Central High School, he attended Angelo State University. He went on to work at the Tom Green County Jail, for a short while, and decided there that he wanted to join the San Angelo Police Department. Korby graduated from the San Angelo Police Academy in 1995, and started his career in law enforcement. He was highly decorated during his career and achieved the rank of Sergeant in 2005. Korby was promoted and assigned to the Traffic Division of the San Angelo Police Department and has been the head of this department until his "End of Watch."
Korby married the love of his life Georgana Cunningham on June 24, 2000 in San Angelo and they have shared 15 beautiful years together. He was always very proud of his profession and proud to serve and protect his community, but his love for his SAPD family was only surpassed by his love for his family. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who devoted his time away from the department to his beautiful wife and children and his many friends. Korby had many passions in life; among them were sports, cooking and being outdoors. He loved giving his time and talent to others. He first loved being Katie's softball coach and more recently Emi's softball coach, cooking for events and benefits and helping people in need in his spare time. Korby's family and our community have lost a great man, but his passion and spirit will live on in our hearts forever.
