Dora Lopez Black, 69 of Big Lake went to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 18, 2015 in Big Lake, Texas. The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M., Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Big Lake, Texas. The Funeral Service will be 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at the First Baptist Church in Big Lake, Texas. Interment will follow at Glen Rest Cemetery in Big Lake.
Dora was born on May 27, 1946 in Mertzon, TX to George and Augustine Flores Lopez. She married Willie James Black, Sr. on April 11, 1978 in Big Lake, Texas and they shared 37 beautiful years together. Dora worked at Reagan County Care Center as a Certified Nurse's Assistant for many years. Dora was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who devoted her life to her husband and family. She enjoyed dancing, collecting porcelain dolls and other collectible trinkets. She was a very giving person and she had a flair for giving people gifts no matter how big or small, she just wanted people to feel good and well loved. Her loyalty and devotion to her family and friends was unparalleled by anyone. Dora was a beautiful, strong woman of faith and was a longtime member of Bethlehem Baptist Church where her husband serves as Deacon. Dora will be dearly missed but her legacy of love and giving will live on in our hearts forever!
She was preceded in death by her parents. Dora is survived by her husband of 37 years, Willie James Black Sr. of Big Lake,; her sons Dr. Willie James Black Jr. and his wife Lisandra, of Universal City, Texas , and Cleon James Black and his wife Monica, of San Antonio, Texas; her Daughter, Lisa Marie Black of Big Lake., TX; her Grandchildren, Willie James Black III and Taina Nicole Black; and two special young ladies who Dora cherished and considered like a daughter and granddaughter, Greta Castillo and Savannah Ramirez, both of Big Lake; her Brother Mike Lopez of Odessa, TX.; her Sisters, Maria Cortez and her husband Robert, of Big Lake, TX, Anabel Castillo and her husband, Concepcion, of Austin ,TX , Louisa Narvaez and her husband Albert , of Big Lake, and Isabel Cowert, of Big Lake. Dora was also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other family members, and many close friends. The Pallbearers for the service will be Marcus Black, Joshua Black, Kevin Gatewood, Guadalupe Porres John Paul Castillo and Dewayne Lopez. Honorary Pallbearers for the service will be Adrian Torres, Timothy Porres, Devin Gatewood and J.R. Castillo.
