Genevieve Amelia Debus Schwartz, 77, passed away early Tuesday morning, June 16, 2015 at her residence after a courageous battle with brain cancer. She was born on August 16, 1937 in San Angelo, TX to John and Amelia Schwertner Debus. After graduating from college, Genevieve married John Ernest Schwartz, Sr on August 30, 1958. She resided in Wall, TX for all but 2 years of her life. After teaching for 2 years, Genevieve chose a life of homemaking, volunteering, and raising her family in a faith-filled home. She was a member of the St. Ambrose Catholic Church and Altar Society, FHA Board, and Young Homemakers. Genevieve spent her life giving and volunteering for her church and children's activities in school, FFA, and 4H. She was very involved in the Tom Green County Farm Bureau, helping many years with the Young Farmers Committee, Queen's Contest, and especially enjoyed helping with the Ag in the Classroom. She enjoyed sewing, especially Easter and doll dresses for her grand-daughters. She loved attending stock shows with her children and grandchildren for many years! You could always count on a great conversation and plenty to eat with Genevieve.
Genevieve is survived by John Sr, her loving husband of 56 years. She is also survived by three children, John and Joan Schwartz, Susan Jones, Curtis and Carla Schwartz. She was preceded in death by her son, Malcolm Schwartz and a son-in-law, Troy Jones. Genevieve gave constant support and love to her 8 grandchildren, Cade, Johnna, Corey, Kimberlyn, Kye, Kendra, and Trey Schwartz and Landon Jones.
Genevieve is also survived by her sisters, Alfrieda Braden, Jerline Frysak, and Gloria Schwartz. Also by in laws, Dorothy Schwartz, Rose Marie Schwartz, Bernice Matthiesen, Alfred and Ann Schwartz, Alfonse and Betty Schwartz, George and Doris Schwartz, and Erwin Schwartz. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Genevieve was preceded in death by her parents and an infant brother, August Frank Debus. She was also preceded in death by in laws Elmer Braden, August Frysak, Walter Schwartz, Joe Schwartz, Laddie and Beatrice Socha, Victor Matthiesen, and Ruby Schwartz.
A rosary will be held Thursday, June 18th at 7:00 pm at St Ambrose Catholic Church in Wall. A mass for Christian burial will be Friday, June 19th at 10:00 am at St Ambrose with burial increment following in St Ambrose Catholic Cemetery. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Johnson's Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be her eight grandchildren and honorary pallbearers will be all godchildren.
The family requests that any honorary memorials be made to the Rev. Bernard J. Binversie Seminarian Burse through St Ambrose. The family would like to thank the numerous friends and family for all the support, prayers, food, and visits during the last seven months as God called her to her eternal home.
