Eph Cummins went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on May 24, 2015 in Robert Lee, Texas at the age of 86. Visitation will be held all day Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at the funeral home with family present 5-6 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, May 28, 2015 at Robert Lee Baptist Church with graveside services to be held at 4:00 p.m., Thursday, May 28, 2015 in Tolar Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home.
He was born to Eph I. Cummins and Irma McCollum Cummins in Sterling City, Texas on July 12, 1928.
He attended school in McCulloch County, London, Junction, Blackwell, and graduated in 1945 from Tolar High School.
He served in the Navy Seabees from 1946 until 1948. He worked at Consolidated Vultee Aircraft in Ft. Worth for several years helping to build the B-36 Bomber.
Eph married Dovie Oxford in 1951 and graduated from Texas A&M University in 1954. He worked for the USDA Soil Conservation Service for over thirty years and retired at Robert Lee in 1987.
Eph and Dovie bought a farm at Tolar and raised cattle for several years. They also volunteered at Camp Builders helping build churches and repair old buildings. Some of those places included The Canadian Baptist Seminary, River Bend at Glen Rose, Palacios on the Texas coast and several churches in the Panhandle of Texas.
For the past several years they have enjoyed doing a little bit of nothing while spending their summers at their place in Valecito, Colorado along with enjoying their children, grandchildren, and great-grand children

He is survived by his wife, Dovie Cummins; two daughters, Sheila Alexander and husband Rocky of Ira and Debbie Miller and husband Jeff of Benbrook; three grandchildren, Amanda Heiman and husband Carey of Ira, Hayden Miller and Abbie Miller of Benbrook and two great-grandchildren, Emily and Trevor Heiman of Ira; one brother, Jack Cummins and wife, Sue of Granbury; one niece, Kim Kemp and husband Tim of Tolar and one nephew, Chad Cummins and wife Kristi of Cressen; also, several great-nieces and nephews.
