On May 17, 2015, our beloved husband, father, uncle, grandfather, great-grandfather and good friend to many, went to be with our Lord and Savior. He was born June 5, 1955, to D.D.(PeeWee) and Darlyne Miller Poynor. On March 24, 1973, he married the love of his life, Letha Durden. Together, they celebrated 42 wonderful years and had one son and two daughters that he was extremely proud of.
Buddy was a lifelong resident of Big Lake where he was a member of the First Baptist Church, was currently serving as County Commissioner, and on the board of the Big Lake Economic and Development Corporation. Upon graduating Reagan County High School in 1973 he attended diesel technician school in Irving, TX. He then moved back home to work with his father in the family business, D.D. Poynor Construction. He was a hard worker and made his family proud, especially his father. After his father's retirement, he took over the business and worked alongside with his son and one son-in-law. He spent everyday with his wife; they worked together, made time for special weekend getaways, and spent time with their children and grandchildren. He was a wonderful, avid pilot and motorcyle rider. He piloted 115 missions for the non-profit organization, Angel Flight, where he was known for his selfless, gracious acts of flying people from all over when they were in need. He was a one of a kind man and the type of friend to have. He never met a stranger, and was always willing to help anyone, in anyway possible.
Buddy is rejoicing in Heaven with his two brothers, Wayne and Winn Poynor; He is also preceeded in death by his Poynor grandparents and Miller grandparents. Our hero had a contagious laugh and smile that will be missed, but never forgotten.
"The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures:
he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever." Psalms 23
