Joann Womack Meadows was born November 8, 1930 to B.W. and Ina Womack in Colorado City, Texas. She passed away on April 8, 2015 in Katy, Texas, at the age of 84.
There will be a visitation held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 12, at Johnson's Funeral Home in San Angelo, Texas. Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M., Monday, April 13, also in San Angelo, at Sierra Vista United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Ken Dahlberg officiating. Burial will be in Lawnhaven Memorial Garden.
After graduating from Colorado High School, Joann worked as a legal secretary for Eldon Mahon and Congressman George Mahon. It was during this time that she met her future husband, Forrest King Meadows. They were married on February 3, 1951 in Colorado City. He preceded her in death on August 16, 1986.
Joann worked as a draftsman for the Texas Highway Department in Colorado City. Later, while living in Robert Lee, she was a bookkeeper and cashier for the Robert Lee State Bank. She was a talented artist.
A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Joann is remembered for her strength, humility, faith and caring concern for others. She was a member of Sierra Vista United Methodist Church of San Angelo and the Mary-Martha Sunday School Class. Most recently, Joann relocated to Katy, Texas to be closer to family, where she attended Holy Covenant United Methodist Church and became loved by the residents and staff at Colonial Oaks Assisted Living Community.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers Harold B. Womack, Jack Womack and wife, Mary, Glenn Lee Womack and wife, Joyce; sister Martie Elna Stell and husband, Bob; sister-in-law Doris Cripliver and husband, Roger; brother-in-law, Ferrell Coston.
Joann is survived by two sons, Steven F. Meadows and wife, Sue, of Katy, TX, and David H. Meadows and wife, Missy, of College Station, TX; two grandsons, Travis Meadows of Houston, TX, Daniel Meadows and wife Angela of Katy, TX; granddaughter, Stephanie Meadows of College Station, TX.; great granddaughter, Aubrey Meadows of Katy, TX; brother-in-law Hubert Meadows and wife, Nina; sister-in-law Jane Coston; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Memorials may be made to Sierra Vista UMC, or your favorite charity.
