Dorothy was born on April 15, 1924 in Sabinal, Texas to Hugh and Luella (Muellar) Ward. She grew up during the depression and knew how to make ends meet and provided for her family on a shoe string budget. Where others would have considered the family poor her children never knew it and they never went without. She was very selfless and always put her family’s needs above her own. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Dorothy was also a wonderful cook and was best known for her German Chocolate cake and the best chicken and dumplings in the world!
She is preceded in death in 1988 by her husband of forty-eight years, William Manship; one son, Gregory Manship, her parents and five siblings.
Dorothy is survived by her son, Gary Manship and wife Eva of San Angelo; brother, Tommy Ward and wife Mary Lou of Camp Wood, TX; grandchildren, Melissa Belcher, Brandi Smith, Nathan Manship, Valerie Rich, Seth Manship and Sarah Linthicum; nine great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
