Josephine was born September 4, 1932 to Annie Ernst and Albert Schwertner on their farm near Miles. She married A.G. “Bubba” Gentry on March 2, 1962 in San Angelo. Josephine worked most her life spanning from Modern Way, to supervisor with San Angelo Diecast, Ethicon, and finally handling the books and answering the phone, to even helping Bub in the field with Gentry Electric until their retirement. After retirement, they enjoyed gambling trips to Hobbs and Ruidoso. Josephine loved nature, from hunting and fishing to afternoon trips to the farm to watch the deer, to keeping a beautiful yard. Most of all, she was a homemaker, from taking care of the house, to cooking, and taking care of her grandchildren.
Josephine is survived by: husband of 53 years Bubba Gentry; sons Larry Gentry, Gary Gentry, and Carl Gentry and wife Tamera; daughter Laura Campbell; grandchildren Todd Gentry, Tracie Kotzen, Jason Gentry, Randy Gentry, Gene Wachsman, Michelle Schaffer, Dianna Juarez, Jeffrery Haines, Jake Gentry, Caleb Gentry, Allie Hamm and Maddison Hamm; 15 great-grandchildren; sisters Lula Marecek and Leona Dorotik; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family, and last but not least, their beloved dog Sam.
The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the staffs of Encompass Home Health and Gentiva Hospice, and especially Sonja Gentry and Kim Parks for their care of Josephine during her lengthy illness.
