Gerald "Jerry" Howard Lohse, 71, died Saturday, March 14, of injuries received in an automobile accident.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday, March 20, in Johnson's Funeral Home Chapel of San Angelo with the Dr. J.A. McDaniel officiating. Burial will follow in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. Visitation is scheduled for 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Johnson's.
He was born November 16, 1943, in San Angelo and attended San Angelo public schools before being married to Edith Maxine Long on August 9, 1963. They were married more than 51 years. Maxine, or "Mac" to everyone who knew her, died December 30, 2014.
Jerry's early work career included a variety of jobs, as well as long stint working on oil well service units. An accomplished truck driver, he was happiest behind the wheel of a tractor-trailer rig. He was employed by David Darnell Construction.
Although he seldom took time off from work, Jerry managed to "go fishing" with his children and grandchildren. He occasionally reflected on trips he had made to Port Aransas with his family. He also spent many hours on the weekend watching NASCAR and the Dallas Cowboys with his dear friend, A.B. Minnix.
Survivors include three daughters, Karen Miller of Austin, Darla Harper of San Antonio and Teresa Riley of San Angelo; a brother, Arlen Lohse and wife Mary 'Beth Lohse of San Angelo; a sister, Joyce Lawler of Saginaw; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren who are already missing "Paw"; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Jerry was also preceded in death by his father, Henry Lohse; mother, Dora Lorene Spears; and twin infant sons, Ricky Gene Lohse and Mickey Dean Lohse.
Pallbearers will be Cody Williamson, Jess Williamson, Justin Long, Todd Harper, Monty Darnell and Jody Darnell.
