Richard G. Hernandez, 73, of San Angelo, went to be with the Lord on February 28, 2015. He was born in Welch, Texas, to Domingo and Herminda Hernandez who instilled in him the values of God, family, and hard work.
He had fond memories of living the simple life on a farm with a circle of cousins. The family later moved to Lamesa, Texas, where he resided until 1982 upon finally settling in San Angelo, Texas, for the remainder of his life.
He was employed by Sherwood Oil Co., later becoming West Texas Gas, where he established lasting relationships with Bernard Beck, as well as Curtis and Linda Day. His hobbies included camping, landscaping, and restoring classic cars. His pride and joy includes a 1950 Ford F-1 he affectionately dubbed "La Fordingita."
He is preceded in death by his parents, infant twins, and two brothers, Conrado and Elias Hernandez, all of Lamesa, Texas.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Hernandez of San Angelo; two children,
Debbie Caballero and husband, SGM Richard R. Caballero of Copperas Cove, Texas, Homer Hernandez and Steve Waldren of Dallas, Texas; two granddaughters, Chelsea R. Cortez of San Angelo and Makayla R. Caballero, currently attending WTAMU in Canyon,Texas, and one great-granddaughter, Kayleigh Rhea Cortez of San Angelo.
Siblings include, Jimmy Hernandez of Lamesa; Helen Mendoza and Linda Gonzalez both of Snyder, Texas.
A Memorial Service is scheduled for Saturday, March 7, 2015, at 11:00 A.M. at Templo Elim, 610 S. Avenue F, Lamesa, Texas, 79331. A private graveside service in Lamesa is pending at a later date.
