Rick Healey, 63 of San Angelo, Texas passed away on February 24, 2015 with his daughter at his side.
Rick was born in Dubuque, Iowa, on August 15, 1951. He graduated from Wahlert High School in 1969 and joined the United States Navy shortly thereafter. He moved to San Angelo in 1983. One of his greatest joys in life was joining the Hirschfeld Steel team in 1998 where he worked as their Dispatcher Supervisor for 17 years. Rick made many friends during his tenure with Hirschfeld and thought of his drivers and the transportation crew as family.
Rick was known for his outspoken personality and his overwhelmingly generous heart. He enjoyed the simpler things in life, which consisted of westerns, John Wayne, the Dallas Cowboys, and going to the bar. He was a loving father and a dear friend to many.
Rick is preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Jeanette Healey; and sister, Mary Healey.
Rick is survived by his children, daughter Amanda Canada & husband Eric of Austin, TX; son Andrew Healey, of San Angelo, TX; daughter Sherry Harms & husband Robert of Fulton, MD; son James Healey & wife DeLila of Dubuque, IA; daughter Jennifer & husband Matthew Shimon of Dubque, IA and five grandchildren. Also surviving are his brothers Daniel Healey, Joe Healey & wife Janice, Tym Healey and sister, Patty Healey.
Pallbearers will be Rick's close friends Ronnie Smith, Mike Neeley, Jimmy Peace, Jim Banta, Bobbie Crawford, Derek Smith, Toby Smith, and Max Chastain.
The family would like to extend their sincere thanks and appreciation to Rick’s friends from the Icehouse and Saddle Bronc for their continued love and support.
Memorials in honor of Rick's life can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
Viewing will begin at 10am, Friday, February 27th at Robert Massie Funeral Home, with funeral services starting at 2pm. A Military Honors Burial will follow at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.
