Charles Allen Camp and Jere Louise Townley. A child of a military family, he grew up being stationed in many places, and Cuba was remembered as his favorite. His family settled back in San Angelo when he was a teen, where Charles attended Central High School. He later studied at a technical college in Florida to receive his motorcycle mechanic's license. Charles began his career in construction as a bricklayer in his teen years, and developed into a master contractor specializing in home construction and renovation. Through his business, Charles Camp Remodeling and Construction, Charles built and renovated many homes across Texas. He was a builder extraordinaire and his passion for perfection was apparent on his projects. The homes he built for his wife, family members and friends are seen as long-lasting gifts, and are greatly appreciated.Charles married Gail Champion Denson on Jan. 9, 1999. Their blended family grew in numbers and strength beginning in 1992, through their marriage ceremony in 1999, and to the present day. Their favorite things included time spent with family, involvement with their church, and going to rock concerts. Charles cherished all the children in his life, including his nephew and grandchildren. He had a playful personality, and the times that he spent with the kids may have lacked proper adult supervision! Charles was a great man of strength, patience and compassion. He never knew a stranger and was always willing to help others in need. His life with Gail exemplified the 12 Step Program, and he was compassionate and showed tremendous empathy towards others. His AA family was an important part of his life, and he loved being there for people in need. Charles volunteered for numerous causes. He worked to improve the lives of incarcerated youth at a facility in Brownwood. A more recent passion for mountain biking led him to volunteer his time and talents to improve San Angelo State Park, and he served as a board member of Friends of San Angelo State Park. His talents also contributed to the success of several annual mission trips to Honduras and Arizona. His passion for life and love of people will be dearly missed and we will carry him in our hearts forever.
