Dorothy Lou Burch, 76, of San Angelo, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, January 25, 2015.
Dorothy was born September 15, 1938 in Junction, Texas to Ollie Edward (Scrap) Morgan and Helen Pearl Stites Morgan. She graduated Junction High School in 1956 as Salutatorian of her class and was a cheerleader and Captain of her basketball team. She received her Associates Degree as a Real Estate Broker from Odessa College. She married the love of her life, Jimmie Eugene Burch, on June 28, 1956 at the First Baptist Church in Junction, Texas.
Dorothy worked as a bookkeeper and secretary for years prior to serving as secretary for the Athletic Director for the Fort Stockton ISD for several years and managed the girls pep squad and cheerleaders and was even elected as the Basketball Sweetheart in 1975. She worked many years as a Real Estate Agent, including her time with Century 21 in Odessa, as an agent in Houston and most recently with Dierschke & Dierschke from 1995 until her retirement in 2008.
Dorothy was a friendly, loving, and outgoing person who had a "take charge" personality and had a "plan" for everyone she knew. Dorothy had many, many friends and often made them her family. She had a very special sense of humor and loved telling stories. She was very involved with everything that her grandkids were involved in, especially their sports activities.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Jimmie, in 1974.
She is survived by her son, Jimmy Edward (Jeb) Burch, his wife Martha, and their children Mari Lynn Trapp and her husband Aaron, and Jeff Burch; her son, Bill Morgan Burch, wife Veronica Linda, and his sons, Collin Blaine Burch and Phillip Burch; daughter in law, Shelly Burch; Niece, Vicki Hardin, husband Buddy Waldon, and her daughter Ashley Cline; special friends, Nubbin Gibson and Steve Akin; numerous other nieces and nephews and the entire Dierschke & Dierschke Family.
Visitation will be 6:00 – 8:00 PM Wednesday, January 28, 2015, at Johnson's Funeral Home. A Celebration of Dorothy's Life will be held 10:00 AM Thursday, January 29, 2015, at Johnson's Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tim Dewey officiating and Kim Leabo to deliver the Eulogy. Graveside Service will be at 4:00 PM Thursday at the East Hill Cemetery in Fort Stockton, Texas.
Pallbearers will be Billy Barnett, Charles Butz, Blaine Burch, Aaron Trapp and Phillip Burch and Cody McMullen. Honorary Pallbearers will be Steve Akin, Robert Bollier, Buddy Waldon, Virgil Wallace, Don Franks, Jeff Burch and Chris Green.
In lieu of flowers, it was Dorothy's request that memorials be made to the West Texas Boys Ranch or to a favorite charity of choice.
