Evelyn Marie Bailey Geffers age 83 of San Angelo, went peacefully to be with her Lord Jesus Christ on Saturday, January 24, 2015. Jesus came to get Evelyn while she was surrounded by family, listening to her favorite gospel song “The Old Rugged Cross.”
Evelyn was born in the town of Scio, New York on April 10, 1931 to the late Clarence Oliver Bailey and Letha Mildred Taylor Bailey. In 1949 Evelyn married the love of her life, Paul Geffers, and they were fortunate enough to have sixty-five wonderful years together.
Evelyn’s devotion for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren was like none other. Her passion for animals was one of a kind. However, her love of God was unprecedented. Evelyn loved everyone and anything that God created and welcomed them with open arms.
Evelyn is survived by her husband Paul Geffers of San Angelo; son Paul Geffers of Dillon, Co; daughter Melody Naylor of Carlsbad, Tx; daughter Victoria Mackey of Mineola, Tx; and son Kevin Geffers of San Angelo, Tx. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. Her grandchildren include: C.J Naylor of Carlsbad, Tx; Mandi Glass of Jarrell, Tx; Josh Geffers of Keystone, Co; Chelsea Geffers of San Angelo; Travis Burke of Mineola, Tx; Kevin Geffers of San Angelo, Tx and Scotty Burke of Mineola, Tx.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her beloved first born granddaughter Crystal Lawless.
Evelyn was born the eldest of ten children. She is survived by two brothers, Phil Bailey of San Angelo, Charles Bailey of Mertzon; and six sisters, Frieda Doss of Broken Arrow, Okla; Vergie Doss and Lois Sanders both of Grape Creek, Gertrude Rodgers, Bonnie Parker and Mildred Burns, all of San Angelo.
Evelyn is preceded in death by her sister Donna Field. Evelyn had a very special bond with each and every one of her brothers and sisters.
Memorial services will be held at 10am on Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at the Shaffer Funeral Home’s Sherwood Way Chap
