Joel George Harris
Joel George Harris, 78, of San Angelo, Texas, went to meet his Lord and savior on Tuesday, December 16.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, December 19 at Robert Massie Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, December 20 at Robert Massie Funeral Home with Pastor Brandon Clark of Celebration Church, Jerry Palmer and Clifton Reed officiating. Interment will follow at Pioneer Memorial Park in Grape Creek.
Joel was born in Shackelford County to Stanley and Lavita Harris on May 21, 1936. He went to San Angelo High School. On September 21, 1955 he married Peggy Joyce Sanders in Albany, Texas and they shared 59 years together. He worked in the auto sales industry for 35 years. Among his greatest accomplishments were his grandchildren with whom he loved spending time and watching their activities. He was a man of many words and never missed an opportunity for conversation. He found great joy in family gatherings at his home as he sat and smiled at the love and laughter surrounding him.
Joel is preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Lavita Harris of San Angelo.
Joel is survived by his wife, Peggy Harris; his daughter Peggy Ashley and husband Alan of San Angelo; sons Gil Harris and wife Pam of San Angelo, Wade Harris and wife Lyndra of Poth, Texas and Walt Harris and wife Dorley of San Angelo; brother Jerry Harris of Austin, Texas; grandchildren: Jody and Lauren Ashley of San Angelo, Cody and Kim Ashley of Groesbeck, Texas, Brandon and Stephanie Smith of San Angelo, Lindsey and Garrett Jost of Austin, Texas, Shae Harris, Cole Harris and Brynn Harris all of Poth, Texas, Blayne Harris, Macy Harris, Ty Harris, Braden Harris, Wyatt Harris and Cheyenne Harris all of San Angelo; and eight great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Jody Ashley, Cody Ashley, Brandon Smith, Blayne Harris, Garrett Jost, Randy Pete Edwards, Jim Bob Harris and Cliffy Reed.
The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Connie Williams, Bonnie and Clifton Reed, the ICU nurses at Angelo Community Hospital, Hospice of San Angelo, Denise Matsumura, Dr. Brewer, Dr. Graham and the numerous friends and family who offered their love, prayers and support.
Memorials may be given to Hospice of San Angelo or Meals for the Elderly.
