May Elizabeth Keys Jackson was born Nov. 30, 1928 to John Keys and Elizabeth Mae Terry Keys. She grew up on her parent's farm in the Fairview area. May passed peacefully from this life on Sunday, Nov. 30, 2014. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mae Keys; her husband, Clay Jackson, and one sister, Willie Rebecca Keys.May graduated from San Angelo Central High School in 1944. She won the state speech championship and competed in the national contest. She received her BA from Baylor University in 1948 and received her master's degree from Angelo State University.May married her high school sweetheart, Clay Howard Jackson, on Nov. 27, 1948. They spent over 44 years together as husband and wife. She was an educator and began her teaching career in 1949 at Lee Jr. High School. Throughout her teaching career, May taught elementary, junior high, and high school levels. She was a principal for eight years and retired in 1982. After retiring from teaching, May opened up a children's clothing boutique. She spent many years travelling to the Dallas Market and choosing the most stylish clothes for infants to teenagers.May also loved to travel! She enjoyed numerous trips with Clay and with her sister, Robert Ann Keys Jones. Her passports were stamped by countries all over the world. She served as a member of the Ziphron Temple Daughters of the Nile for over 51 years.May is survived by her sister, Robert Ann Keys Jones; her daughter Jan, and Michael Duncan; her son Roy, and Teri Jackson; her four grandchildren: John and Kacy Jackson, Dallas and Sam Franklin, Ellis and Chris Bonness, Jackson Duncan and Sara Dalrymple. She is also survived by six great grandchildren: Mikayla and GT Jackson; Clay, Ellen, Conner and Caleb Bonness, and one nephew David Jones and his wife Tina.The family would like to thank the staff of Meadow Creek and HOSA for their exceptional care these past two months. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of San Angelo, Belmore Baptist Church, or Meals for the Elderly. Graveside service is at 2 pm Tuesday in Fairmount Cemetery with Rev. Toby Irwin officiating.
