Gloria Jean Clifton, 67, of Justin, Texas, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2014, at her home after a courageous battle with cancer. Jean was born in Big Spring, Texas on Sept. 15, 1947, to Herbert Xaver and Monta Joye Byrum Kolster. She married Tommy Clifton on Jan. 14, 1977, and they shared 22 beautiful years of marriage together before he preceded her in death in 1999. Jean was a dedicated employee at GTE, now known as Verizon Communications for 50 years. Jean enjoyed shopping and expressed her love for art through oil painting and creating ceramics. Jean was always admired for her tremendous strength and caring spirit. Many people aspired to be like her, especially her children, whom she loved dearly. Jean was preceded in death by her father, Herbert Xaver Kolster Sr.; her husband, Tommy Clifton; and her son, Doug Clifton. Jean leaves behind her mother, Monta Joye Kolster of San Angelo; her children, Amy Selene Clifton and Chad Everett Clifton of Justin; grandson Cole Douglas Clifton of San Angelo; brother Herbert Xavier "Mike" Kolster Jr. of Knickerbocker; sister Marian Couture of San Angelo; nieces Nancy Woollard and her husband, Robert of Spring and Robin Bledsoe and her husband, Kenneth of Arlington; her special pets "Macaroni" and "Baby"; and numerous other family members and friends. Memorials may be made to the. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2014, in Johnson's Funeral Home chapel. Interment will follow in Knickerbocker Cemetery.
