Pete was born on September 20, 1943 in San Angelo, Texas, the oldest of 6 children of Fenton and Velma Jacob Wilde. He grew up on the family farm and graduated from Wall High School in 1962. He attended San Angelo College and Texas Tech University. He was a farmer in the Wall and St. Lawrence areas. Pete and Joyce Marie Dorotik were married November 30, 1968 in Austin, Texas at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. They were blessed with 3 daughters and 5 grandchildren. Walter Wilde was a fun dad… and grandpa. He supported his three girls in everything they did throughout all phases of their childhood and into adulthood. He was there to fix anything and do anything the girls wanted or needed with no hesitation and with a big smile on his face. He loved the men they each married like sons. When each of his grandchildren was born, he was there to welcome them with his big loving heart. He loved his time with his girls and grandchildren. Being homebound in his last years, he found his greatest joy in listening to his only grandson play football on the radio, watching his granddaughters perform songs and cheers for him, and having special talks and prayer time with each of them. Pete was also a great husband. He did so much behind the scenes at J. Wilde's to support Joyce with all her eccentric endeavors. They enjoyed working and travelling together for many years to markets and shows throughout the United States. His quiet contributions deserve so much credit for the success of the business. But best of all, he loved us all with all his heart. Right down until the very end, he was so unselfish. He made sure we all knew how much he loved us, and his faith in God never faltered. We could never imagine him not being in our lives, but look forward to reuniting with him in Heaven. He was preceded in death by his father, Fenton Wilde; his brother, Jimmy Wilde; his father in law, LeRoy Dorotik,; and his sister in law, Debbie Wilde.
