Georgia Piel, 90, of San Angelo died Thursday, January 23, 2014. Georgia was born February 14, 1923 in Rowena, TX to Joe and Otilia (Sklenarik) Boehm.
She grew up on a farm at Vancourt, after living for a short time in the Mereta area. She attended school at Eola.
Georgia married Forrest Wells and moved to San Angelo where they lived until his death in 1973. She married Adolf Piel in 1975. They were members of the Wall Polka Club and enjoyed dancing at the VFW Hall until his death in 2008.
Georgia worked at Monarch Tile for many years and then at Pace Drygoods. She was a member of Concho Valley Czech Heritage Society.
She never forgot a birthday, anniversary, or special occasion. Georgia loved sending greeting cards, and receiving them made her smile.
Dunbar Restaurant was her home away from home. Not only did Georgia enjoy her meal but it was the love of her friends that brought her back day after day. If she wasn't at Dunbar, she was visiting friends at Paco's Place and Zentner's Daughter.
Georgia was able to stay living at home by having caring neighbors, the Youngs and Moores. They were not just neighbors but family to her.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husbands Forrest Wells and Adolf Piel.
Georgia is survived by her cousin Robert Sklenarik; distant cousins; longtime friends Ralph and Ruby Matschek; and friends far and wide. She will be missed by her dog Trixi Girl.
