Joan Palladino Kolster went home to be with her Lord and Savior on January 5, 2014. She was born in Brooklyn, New York on August 27, 1944. She is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, John Henry (Pete) Kolster, Jr. Joan is preceded in death by her parents, Florence and Michael Palladino, and her brother Frank Palladino. Joan grew up in Elmont, Long Island, and always remembered enjoying a wonderful life filled with many blessings from the Lord. The next best thing was meeting her husband, Pete, while she was traveling cross-country and pulling into a service station in El Paso, Texas where he worked. She always claimed it was the Lord's doing that brought them together. Joan had a 36- year career with Mobil Oil Corporation and retired with them on March 1 2000. She and her husband both became born again Christians in 1995 and joined the Harvest Baptist Church after moving back to San Angelo, Texas, in 2001. Their church family has been a blessing during Joan's illness in addition to the support and love they received from family and friends. Pallbearers are Jerrel Harmon, Tim Carter, Ben Koca, Kyle Koca, George Tullos, Mel Shull, Robert Pharris, and Martin Koca. Honorary pallbearers are Ted Weeaks and David O'Dell. Special thanks to Dr. Dawn Gonzalez for her support and care during this difficult time. Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, January 11, 2014 at Harvest Baptist Church, 2021 Austin Street in San Angelo with Pastor Ron Patterson officiating. Burial will be at Midway Cemetery on Arden Road. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting that donations be made to Harvest Baptist Church of San Angelo. Family and friends may sign the online register book at www.johnsons-funeralhome.com.
