San Angelo – Susan Lynette McDurmitt, 61, gracefully passed from this life on Saturday, December 14,
2013 after a brief battle with cancer.
Lynette was born August 18, 1952, to Earl Duane Wood and Alcie Jo Cox Wood in San Angelo, TX. As a
lifelong resident, she graduated from Central High School and went on to work at GTE and later worked
at Producers Livestock, but found her true calling as a mother and homemaker. Lynette loved all
animals and treasured her cats. She was a very talented woman. Her creativity was expressed through
cooking, painting, and gardening, which she so generously shared with family and friends. Lynette
enjoyed shopping for unique finds to add to her many collections.
She was married to the late David McDurmitt.
Lynette is survived by her children: daughter Suzy Wood Catron and husband Franklin of Odessa and
their children Emily and Ian; son Christian Sean Ross and fiancee Jessica Culver of Austin; sister Gayla
Wood Reyes and husband Danny, brothers: David Wood and wife Debbie, James Wood and wife Teresa,
and Paul Wood: nieces and nephews; Jimmy, Dillon, Dalton, Michael, Ross, Collin, Adam and Erica.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her niece, LeGay Trammell.
A Memorial Service will be held at 20 p.m., Saturday, December 21, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the
“Remembrance Chapel” of Gutierrez Funeral Chapels/North.
Lynette was deeply loved and will be greatly missed. She’ll be in our hearts forever.
