The San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts invites the public to attend a free lecture by John Schoonover. The lecture will be held in the SAMFA Meeting Room on Thursday, February 29 at 5:30 p.m.

Through His Own Lens: The Documentary Photography of Illustrator Frank E. Schoonover will be presented by John Schoonover about his grandfather, social documentary photographer and illustrator Frank E. Schoonover, and his influential early 1900’s artwork.

Frank E. Schoonover’s artwork can be viewed, along with paintings by N.C. Wyeth and Howard Pyle, in SAMFA’s current exhibit, N.C. Wyeth and the Golden Age of American Illustration. This intimate selection of works from the collection of Joel and Suzanne Sugg and the Diamond M collection of the Museum of Texas Tech University, features seldom-seen paintings that have shaped our popular imagination. The exhibit will run through March 31, 2024 and is part of SAMFA’s Grand Re-Opening celebration.

The San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts is accredited by the American Alliance of Museums. The museum is supported by generous contributions from both individuals and businesses. Our Grand Re-Opening celebration is generously sponsored by H-E-B, City National Bank, an Anonymous Supporter, Luther King Capital Management, Charles W.
