As a diagnostic technician you will be asked to perform acceptance testing as well as routine maintenance testing on substation equipment such as Auto transformers, Distribution transformers, substation breakers, and line equipment. You will work with a great team of technicians as well as with our reliability engineers. You will be asked to be able to interpret data that is gathered during testing and be able to make in the field calls on equipment that may have some discrepancies. We are looking for someone that is self motivated and someone that likes to challenge themselves.

You will be trusted to:

Technicians will be performing the following:
Testing transformers 
Testing substation breakers
Testing substation line equipment such as Arrestors, CT's, PT's, PVT's, CCVT's...
Testing substation batteries
Performing IR scans as well as PD scans

 

You qualify with:

- Seven or more years of experience in electric utility equipment maintenance, three phase power systems, substation equipment maintenance or using test equipment. 


- A degree(s) in electrical power theory, electronics, instrumentation, controls, industrial maintenance or relevant field may be substituted per LCRA guidelines for certain years of experience. 


- Driver’s license 


- Class A Texas commercial driver’s license or equivalent from another state required for incumbents with heavy equipment transportation responsibilities.

Experience testing in a substation 
experience with performing the following test.
- Power factor on the different types of substation equipment
- excitation on a transformer
- Leakage reactance test on a transformer
- testing oil 
- TTR on a transformer
- Speed testing substation circuit breakers
