Hoelscher To Remain As Pct 1 County Commissioner

SAN ANGELO, TX — Following a recount for the Tom Green County Commissioner Precinct One race from the March 5 Primary, incumbent Ralph Hoelscher retained his seat.

Challenger Michelle DeRusso lost by a one-vote margin, officials confirmed.

According to Tom Green County Republican Chairman Bruce Burkett, the only change was a single undervote.

The official return sheet, dated March 21, shows that DeRusso received 861 votes, just one short of Hoeslschers 862.

Burkett said he had never been a part of a race that was so close. He called it “unheard of.”

Tomorrow, March 22, another recount is scheduled for the Precinct Four Constable race between Thomas Bigham and Gary Cole.

In the constable race, Bigham led with 1,880 votes, narrowly beating Cole by an 85-vote margin, who secured 1,795 votes.
