Are You Registered to Vote in the May Elections?

SAN ANGELO – The May municipal and School Board Elections are fast approaching and the Tom Green County Elections office is preparing early voting and Election Day.

The Tom Green County Election/Voter Registration office will be closed Monday, April 3 and Tuesday, April 4. Normal hours will resume Wednesday at 8 am.

The May 6, 2023 election is approaching quickly.  The City of San Angelo will feature 3 Propositions and Single Member District 3 on their ballot.  Grape Creeik and Wall ISD will be holding an election for trustees.  Lipan-Kickapoo Water District will hold a separate election for Tom Green County Directors.  Sample ballots are posted on the county election website: www.votetomgreencounty.gov.

Voters are reminded that they have to complete a ballot by mail application each calendar year.  Each individual voter will have to request an application be sent to them or the application may be found on the county website.  The application can be completed on the computer but must be printed, signed and mailed to the election office at 113 W. Beauregard Ave., San Angelo, Texas, 76903.  The application must be received by 4/25/23.  When calling to request a blank application, remember to allow enough time for the application to be mailed to you and returned in order to be in the office by the deadline (must be received by the posted date, not postmarked).

If the voter is 65 years of age or older, or disabled, they may apply to receive all ballots by mail for a calendar year.

To be eligible to vote early by mail in Texas, you must:

1.       be 65 years or older; or

2.       be disabled; or

3.       be confined in jail, but otherwise eligible; or

4.       be out of the county on election day and during the hours of early voting in person or the remainder of the early voting period after you submit your application.  Your ballot must be mailed to an address outside the county.  You must provide the date you can begin to receive mail at this address.

The deadline to register or update voter registration is April 6th.  Voter registration applications may be obtained via the website under the forms link, by emailing: [email protected], or by calling the office at 325-659-6541.  Voters are reminded to allow enough time for the form to be mailed to them so that it can be postmarked by the deadline of the 6th.  Unlike the application for a ballot by mail, the voter registration application simply has to be postmarked by the deadline.

Early voting will be held at the election office – 113 W. Beauregard Ave. in the election office.  Dates are times are:
