The UT Mariachi Band Visits the Lake View Mariachi Band

SAN ANGELO, TX — The Lake View High School and Lincoln Middle School’s Mariachi Bands received a special treat on Wednesday when the University of Texas’ Mariachi Paredes came to town to give them a special performance. The performance was in Lake View High School's auditorium.

The students had the opportunity to participate in a question-and-answer session with Dr. Torres and members of UT’s Mariachi Band before watching them perform. Dr. Torres introduced and explained each of the songs performed before the middle school and high school students had the opportunity to see how a university-level mariachi band operated.

Lake View is no stranger to high-level performances. The Lake View Mariachi, Los Caciques, received superior ratings at the UIL State Mariachi Festival. Also, as a standalone, Isaac Carrales was recognized as an outstanding performer for the second year in a row.

In 2023, Carrales made history by being the first Mariachi student in San Angelo and all of West Texas to earn a spot in the All-State Mariachi. Not only did he earn a spot, but he was chosen to fill the first chair position, the highest placement, among the best Mariachi students in the entire state of Texas.
